A holiday feeling just 10 minutes from Zurich: the Romantik Seehotel Sonne in Küsnacht offers a wide range of culinary delights in picturesque surroundings. The high chair from KRAABE is never far away wherever quality is taken seriously.

The Romantik Seehotel Sonne in Küsnacht can look back over a long tradition. “We have been around for almost 400 years,” says René Grüter, who runs the hotel together with his wife Catherine Julen Grüter. “The Sonne was originally a country inn. Today, we are a traditional 4-star superior hotel with forty rooms and an extensive menu.” Whether in the historic banqueting hall, the parlour or outdoors on the lakeside terrace: the atmosphere here in Küsnacht is unique. “There are hardly any businesses left on Lake Zurich in a comparably attractive location.” This is why the locality is very popular for birthdays, weddings and christenings, though also for the radio programme “Persönlich”, which SRF broadcasts live from the Sonne every few years.

From a gourmet menu to sausage and chips

Despite its numerous guests from Switzerland and Europe, the Sonne is still firmly rooted in the local community. “The relationship with people in Küsnacht and walk-in customers is very important to us,” says the manager René Grüter. This means that the Sonne is not only ideal for business lunches, seminars and corporate events, but also for families looking for refreshment after a hike through the Küsnachter Tobel or a walk along the lake shore. “While we are pampering our guests indoors with gourmet menus and down-to-earth cuisine, our outdoor self-service area sells sausage and chips.” Talking of outdoors: in summer, the Sonne’s terrace turns into a beer garden and in winter it is normally an ice rink. “On account of the electricity situation, there will be no ice rink this year. Instead, we will be surprising guests with our romantic winter landscape,” says René Grüter. “As in the past 2 years, we will be creating a wonderful atmosphere in the garden with braziers, lots of lights and seating areas.”

High chair in Küsnacht

The Sonne in Küsnacht is also a historic location for KRAABE. Because the hosts were among the first customers to trust in the foldaway high chair. “My wife saw the chair at a christening and fell for it straight away,” says René Grüter. Flat, easy to clean, good looking, robust and quick to set up and put away again: “We are always looking for practical solutions in the catering trade. We have found the perfect product for our needs in the high chair from KRAABE.” The 8 high chairs in the Sonne either hang on the corresponding wall mounts or are stacked away tidily on the two trolleys. René Grüter: “The overall system has fully paid off.” As the example of the Sonne shows, innovation works perfectly in a traditional establishment too.
